South Tyneside Images aims to conserve and make publicly accessible the photographic heritage of South Tyneside, enabling people across the world to view and learn from images of South Tyneside’s rich and diverse heritage.
By providing access through this online catalogue of images, the original photographs are preserved from fading, and general wear and tear. This digital back up also preserves this important heritage collection for future generations, and enables researchers, families and individuals unprecedented electronic access to local photographs.
This project is made possible through Your Heritage funding from the Heritage Lottery, with support from Local History Group members, Culture Works volunteers, and experts across South Tyneside MBC.
